Dear All,

Welcome to the AfREN mailing list.  This is the completion of one action 
item of this year's meeting.  Success!  The next item is the AfREN web 
site.  Currently, the presentations from April 28 and 29 have been 
posted to afnog.org/afren (and there has been discussion about that 
already).  We probably need our own web site.  There is an oil company, 
Afren, that holds the afren.com, afren.org, and afren.net domain names. 
  What name should we get?  afren.ng?  Please reply and make suggestions.

At the beginning of the meeting, the issues raised were finding classes 
via AfREN and sharing information, power problems and solutions, content 
for users, bandwidth and fiber, policies, lobbying together, and 
building NRENs.  At the end of the meeting, our interests were strategic 
planning, capacity building, education, communication, and lobbying.  We 
believe that "if you build it they will come" and to evaluate the users' 
needs afterwards.  Do you agree?
