We invite <strong><span style="font-family:"Segoe UI","sans-serif";color:blue">applications from educational technologists and educators based at African universities</span></strong> to participate in a free
</span><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Segoe UI","sans-serif""><a href="http://opencontent.uct.ac.za/Centre-for-Higher-Education-Development/Centre-for-Educational-Technology/Facilitating-Online" target="_blank"><strong><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Segoe UI","sans-serif"">five
week course in online facilitation </span></strong></a></span><span style="font-family:"Segoe UI","sans-serif"">funded by the Ford Foundation. A maximum of 20 participants can be accommodated. Course participation will be entirely online and will require
8 hours of participation per week. Facilitating Online was developed by the Centre for Educational Technology at University of Cape Town and is registered as a short course at the University of Cape Town. A certificate of completion will be awarded for successful
completion of the course and specified online facilitation activities within nine months from the end of the course. Conference hosts from the e/merge 2006 and e/merge 2008 online conferences will be able to apply to join the e/merge 2012 facilitation team
without participating in this course.<br>

<strong><span style="font-family:"Segoe UI","sans-serif"">Target participants</span></strong><br>
<br>
The course is aimed at<strong><span style="font-family:"Segoe UI","sans-serif";color:blue"> experienced educators at higher education institutions in Africa</span></strong> who have reliable internet access and the opportunity to run courses or components
of their courses online. Selection criteria include:<br>
· previous experience of online teaching and learning<br>
· at least five years’ experience as a university educator or educational technologist<br>
· willingness to teach future online facilitation courses in their local/regional context or<br>
· willingness to be a conference host for the e/merge online conferences or a pilot educational technology network across African universities.</span><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Segoe UI","sans-serif""><u></u><u></u></span></p>
